Shopping on the Costa del Sol

The Costa del Sol has more than 30 shopping centres, business parks and department stores and a score of independent shops selling products ranging from locally produced arts & crafts to luxury couture fashion and exclusive items. We highly recommend that you visit the typically Spanish quaint towns of Mijas and Benalmadena Pueblo during your stay for traditional Andalusian ceramics, leathers and handmade goods – but if you’re after high street brands, here is our selection of the best shopping spots to visit on your next Costa Vacation!

Leisure and Shopping Center Miramar

This major shopping mall opened in 2004 and offers an area of 119,000m2 of commercial retail space. Known simply as ‘Miramar’, the mall is easily accessible by car or bus, close to the centre of Fuengirola, the beach area and with direct access to the A-7. The shopping center offers a wide range of retail and leisure facilities, including a cinema showing English movies, a large food court and fashion brands like Zara, H&M, Mango and Massimo Dutti.

El Corte Ingles Mijas

El Corte Inglés is one of the leading major retailers in Europe with more than 80 locations across Spain and Portugal. Located between the towns of Mijas and Fuengirola, this department store offers leading large-scale retailers in Europe ranging from fashion brands, perfumes, jewellery and a variety of luxury goods. El Corte Ingles Mijas also has an excellent Hipercor hypermarket offering everything from beach paraphernalia, to fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and fish, and a wide selection of wines and liquors.

La Cañada

Located in Marbella, La Cañada is one of the largest shopping malls on the Costa del Sol and has undergone major renovations in recent years due to its popularity. Today, the shopping mall is a beautiful bright and airy open space full of top high street names like Apple, Adidas, Cos, Zara, Guess, Hollister and Marks & Spencer. The Camelot Park offers entertainment for kids and the cinema shows both Spanish and English film. There are also a number of great restaurants and tapas bars in the various food courts with indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is free and there are also regular bus services from Marbella centre.

Puerto Banus

puerto-banusThe Marina of Banus, particularly along the famous seafront stretch of Calle Ribera is home to the worlds most glamorous designer boutiques, including Dior, Gucci, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Bvlgari, two quaint shopping centres called Marina Banus and Centro Plaza and also one of the largest El Corte Inglés Department stores in Spain, which is increasingly becoming a one-stop shop for every established high street and luxury brand imaginable.
